George Johnston was an Australian journalist, war correspondent and novelist, best known for the novel classic MY BROTHER JACK, the first volume in his trilogy of semi-autobiographical novels centering on the character David Meredith. The novel won the Miles Franklin Award in 1964 and was recently adapted into an Australian TV series.
