1 Farley, Walter THE BLACK STALLION AND THE GIRL
New York: (1978). 0394821459 / 9780394821450 First edition thus: movie preview variant. Rear cover and jacket bear a promotional slug for the upcoming film based on Farley's beloved series. Hardcover. Ghost of a tiny price sticker to front free endpaper, else fine in laminated, illustrated boards; in a mildly age-toned, fine dust jacket (flap price, $3.95), with cover painting by Angie Draper. Decorated endsheets with horse portraits also by Draper. 
In 1968 Pam Farley was killed in a car crash in Europe at the age of 20. Mr. Farley memorialized his daughter's "free spirit and love of horses" in this later period Black Stallion novel. A superb example, in stunningly fresh condition.

Light blue cloth with white and black spine titles and galloping horse illustration. Hardcover. Strip of tan offsetting to front and rear endpapers, mild foxing to the endsheets and page edges, fading to the shelf edges, faint spotting to the spine, else a near fine copy; in a lightly worn and soiled illustrated dust jacket with some spine fading. 
Considered one of the better later books of the series, "THE BLACK STALLION'S SULKY COLT continues the story of the harness champion and second son of the Black Stallion, Bonfire." Dust jacket and black-and-white illustrations by Harold Eldridge. Scarce!
