1 Culp, John H. BORN OF THE SUN
New York: William Sloane Associates, 1959. First edition. Literary agency copy with rubberstamped address to the front endpaper. Jacket art by Ezra Jack Keats. Hardcover. Stains to the top page edges, coffee stains to the page fore-edges and margins of several leaves, else a very good plus copy; in a lightly shelfworn and age-toned dust jacket with stains to the rear panel, and nicks and tears to the extremities.
The author's highly regarded first novel recreates a vanished way of life in this story of a homeless and nameless boy who grows up on the Texas frontier and endures the back-breaking and man-making struggles of cattle country.

2 Culp, John H. BORN OF THE SUN
New York: William Sloane Associates, 1959. First edition. Hardcover. A fine, fresh copy; in a very nearly fine illustrated dust jacket with mild soiling to the rear panel and a thin band of age-toning to the upper flap edges. Jacket art by Ezra Jack Keats. An uncommonly fine copy.
Born in Meridian, Mississippi, John Culp grew up and went to school in the land he writes about--Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. BORN OF THE SUN is the author's first novel--the first in an excellent series of novels set in post-Civil War Texas.
