1 (Ball, John). Jones, Quincy, composer/conductor; Bergman, Marilyn & Alan, lyricists IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT
New York: United Artists Records, Inc., 1967. UAL 4160. Near mint long-playing soundtrack album; promotional copy, stamped on rear panel with ''AUDITION RECORD.'' Liner notes by the film's director, Norman Jewison.
Jones's funky, evocative, pioneering score for the Academy Award-winning film adaptation of Ball's novel; featuring vocals by Ray Charles and Glen Campbell. The film memorably starred Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger--who also took home an Oscar.

2 (Hamilton, Donald). Bernstein, Elmer, composer/conductor THE SILENCERS
[No place]. RCA Victor, 1966. LOC-1120 (Mono). Mint; factory-sealed long-playing soundtrack album; color photo art prominently features ''Matt Helm's Slaygirls''--a bevy of scantily clad blondes, brunettes, and redheads--each brandishing a weapon: rapier, automatic rifle, six-gun, axe, pistol, dagger.
Score by veteran film composer Bernstein for the first of the Hollywoodized Matt Helm pictures starring crooner Dean Martin with Cyd Charisse, Daliah Lavi and Stella Stevens in tow. Vocals by Vicki Carr. "Nineteen sixty-sex! The Year of the Slaygirls!"

3 [Macdonald, Ross]. Mandel, Johnny, composer/conductor; Bergman, Marilyn & Alan, lyricists HARPER
New York: Mainstream, [No date]. #56078 (Mono). Mint long-playing record album; in photo-pictorial album cover featuring stills of star Paul Newman. Liner notes by Stan Cornyn. Screenwriter William Goldman adapted Macdonald's THE MOVING TARGET as a vehicle for Newman, directed by Jack Smight. Co-stars included Lauren Bacall, Julie Harris, and Robert Wagner.
Author Macdonald's name, oddly, is mentioned nowhere on the album cover; and the name of his series detective Lew Archer has been changed--apparently so it would tie in to a string of Newman pictures starting with the letter "H"--HUSTLER, HUD, HOMBRE.
