1 Browne, Walter EVERYWOMAN: Her Pilgrimage In Quest of Love, A Modern Morality Play
New York: The H.K. Fly Company Publishers, (1911). First edition, first printing. Illustrated with production photos. Over 100 performances at the Herald Square Theatre in NYC in 1911. Hardcover. Bright, fresh, fine copy in green cloth with gilt lettering and rules and sensational blind-debossed decoration depicting the masks of tragedy and comedy; in soiled, worn, nicked dust jacket with 1-inch chip to upper spine panel.
Backstage allegory with music, by the baritone (he created Strephon in IOLANTHE), dramatic critic, and playwright. Filmed in 1919 by Famous Players-Lasky, with Charles Ogle (FRANKENSTEIN), Monte Blue, Bebe Daniels, Noah Beery, Lucien Littlefield.

2 Lovesey, Peter KEYSTONE
New York: Pantheon Books, (1983). 0394531248 / 9780394531243 First U.S. edition. Hardcover. Fine in a fine dust jacket.
Period puzzler by one of the sub-genre's finest practioners. In a diverting amalgam of film history and pure moonshine, Lovesey weaves tales of Mack Sennett, "Fatty" Arbuckle, and Mabel Normand into a suspense yarn about movie cop, Warwick Easton.

3 Stilgebauer, Edward THE STAR OF HOLLYWOOD
Cleveland/New York: International Fiction Library, (1929). First U.S. edition. Translated from the German by E.E. Wilson. Spectacular vintage jacket art of glamorous flapper with an enormous feather headress. Hardcover. Pages tanned, else fine, in red cloth lettered, ruled and decorated in black; in dust jacket that is age-toned, lightly soiled to spine panel, with closed edge tear and attendant creasing to spine crown--the jacket art is, however, bright and intact!
German novel of Hollywood (!) concerns a young film actress who takes the part of slave to Cleopatra and has to apply the poisonous snake to the breast of a famous star...syringes, morphine...and who knows what follows! Scarce Hollywood novel.
