1 (Field, Eugene). Steegmuller, Francis & Guterman, Norbert; Cooney, Barbara, pictures by PAPILLOT, CLIGNOT ET DODO
New York: Ariel Books, (1964). First edition. Hardcover. A hint of age-toning, a whisper of edgewear, else near fine in pictorial boards; in a nearly fine dust jacket that shows some light edgewear, a short closed tear and tiny nicking to spine crown, age-toning, especially to spine and flapfolds. A nice copy!
Eugene Field's immortal WYKNKEN, BLYNKEN AND NOD, here freely translated into French by Steegmuller and Guterman, and memorably accompanied by Cooney's haunting, evocative indigo-drenched illustrations. Glossary, English text, note on Field.
