1 (Ball, John). Bagley, Desmond TYPED LETTER SIGNED TO JOHN BALL
No place: Unpublished, (1978). This letter, typed on the author's stationery and dated 9 February 1978, is 8'' by 10'' and SIGNED ''Simon'' (as Bagley was known to his friends). Gently folded twice, otherwise fine. 
Bagley looks forward to seeing Ball at a mystery conference in New York and later travelling to California. He notes, "One thing about mixing with writers is that you can be certain of intelligent and witty conversation."

2 (Queen, Ellery). Dannay, Fred Typed Letter, SIGNED, dated November 6, 1977 From Fred Dannay (one half of Ellery Queen) to Mrs. John (Pat) Ball, wife of mystery writer, John Ball and novelist in her own right.
New York: Unpublished, 1977. Full-page, letter-sized, single sheet on Ellery Queen's stationery with typed New York address; several ink corrections, paragraphs bracketed with ink, two brief ink page notations on verso. Faint creases on the upper corner, overall clean and fine. 
A mini-seminar on the art of mystery writing by one of its leading practioners to fledgling novelist, Pat Ball. Dannay summarizes Mrs. Ball's writing deficiencies while providing much encouragement to her. Mrs. Ball later published under, Nan Hamilton.

(1983). Each letter has been lightly folded once, otherwise they are fine. 
These letters, written in 1983 on Catherine Aird's stationery, are 51/2" by 81/2" and are fully SIGNED. They contain invitations and regrets, notices of sending and receiving literary materials and general references to literary matters.

5 Etchison, Dennis Original Signed Typescript Letter
(1974). Addressed to Stuart David Schiff, dated February 19, 1974 and signed ''Dennis.'' A single sheet of 8.5 x 11 white typing paper, folded in three, lightly age-toned, and with a corner crease to bottom left hand. 
Letter to the WHISPERS editor, thanking Schiff for WHISPERS #2, and offering Etchison's capsule reviews of stories by James Sallis and David Lunde and Manly Wade Wellman. Etchison closes the letter with a gentle reminder of a further $25.00 owed to him.

Second collection of verse from the Oklahoma-born poet, who has SIGNED this copy with a brief inscription to a colleague; laid in: a TLS, on California Federation of Chaparral Poets notepaper, in which she discusses her writing and her personal life.

7 Reamy, Tom & Silverberg, Robert DINOSAURS
No place: Original typescript, (1988). 33-page manuscript submitted to Robert Silverberg for inclusion in his anthology, NEW DIMENSIONS 6. With typed cover letter SIGNED by Silverberg. 8 1/2" by 11" loose sheets; housed in a handsome string-tied black portfolio. All in fine condition. 
Silverberg's letter, dated in 1988, identifies Reamy's 10,500 word typescript, the accompanying editorial introduction (which Silverberg authored) and the corrections to the manuscript (blue ink=Silverberg, red=Doubleday's copy editor).
