Washington: Smithsonian Institution Press, (1969). First edition. Hardcover. Sticker removal from the front pastedown has slightly damaged the upper edge of the first four pages, else a lovely near fine copy; in an illustrated dust jacket with slight age-toning. 
Illustrated throughout in color and b&w, on coated stock. The 115 prints in this book represent American printmaking from 1670 to 1820, a time when the outlook was still British. Includes the works of such artists as John Foster and Thomas Emmes.
