Jacket art by Ed Emshwiller. Hardcover. Very faint foxing to page edges, endsheets, else fine, in terra-cotta cloth with black spine lettering; in a very good plus dust jacket, lightly worn at the extremities, faded to the spine panel, and with a 2-inch closed tear to upper front panel.

Hicksville, New York: Gnome Press, Inc., (1959). First edition, one of 2,898 copies printed and bound. Hardcover. Near fine in dark red boards, with pages tanned (as usual); in a near fine, illustrated dust jacket that has some small creases to the top and bottom of the spine panel. 
THE BIRD OF TIME is a unique, romantic, sf adventure that begins on Mars and proceeds to race across the galaxy. West was a prolific writer whose career lasted from the late-twenties to the late-sixties. He also wrote LORDS OF ATLANTIS.
