1 (Simon, Neil). McGovern, Edythe NOT-SO-SIMPLE SIMON: A CRITICAL STUDY
(Van Nuys, California): (Perrivale Press), (1978). 0912288116 / 9780912288116 First edition: a trade paperback original. Trade Paperback. Hint of a spine crease, a whisper of wear, else a fine, virtually unread copy in illustrated wraps. With an introduction by Simon. Indexed.
Very early, serious (McGovern invokes Aristotle and Artaud in the first paragraph!) study of the record-breaking hitmeister's first dozen Broadway plays, augmented with production credits, photos and Hirschfeld caricatures. Scarce!

THE GOOD DOCTOR, a comedy with music, is set in Russia during the 19th century and written in the style of a Chekhovian comedy. A television movie was made based on the play, with Edward Asner, Richard Chamberlin, and Marsha Mason in 1978. Scarce!

3 Simon, Neil THE STAR-SPANGLED GIRL
New York: Random House, (1967). First edition. With production photos featuring original stars Anthony Perkins, Connie Stevens and Richard Benjamin. Hardcover. Tiny bump to upper front cover edge, else near fine in cloth-backed boards; in dust jacket that shows mild edgewear and rubbing, a miniscule grease mark, faint age-toning, a few tiny nicks and very short closed edge tears with attendant light creasing.
Simon was just beginning to hit his astonishing pace when this smash hit comedy joined BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, ODD COUPLE, and SWEET CHARITY, all running on Broadway at the same time! Uncommon in the first.
