Explosive novel of modern life in America, laid in the West Virginia region and intended initially to be the final volume of a trilogy begun with O BEULAH LAND and KNOW NOTHING.

New York: The Viking Press, (1960). First edition. Hardcover. Offsetting to endsheets and a few preliminary pages, else near fine in sea-foam green cloth, lettered in black, over veined olive boards; in an illustrated dust jacket with fading to the spine panel, light edgewear, mild rubbing at spine and flap folds. 
A nicer than usually encountered copy of Settle's novel of ante-bellum West Virginia, the second book in her esteemed Beulah Land quintet. Settle won the National Book Award in 1978 for BLOOD TIE.
