1 Whitechurch, Victor L. FIRST AND LAST
London: W. Collins Sons & Co. Ltd, (1933). Sixth impression. A Collins' Romantic Novel. Hardcover. Very good minus: spine slant, substantial fading to spine, mild soiling, a few dots of faint foxing to fore-edge, owner's discreet name to half-title; lacking dust jacket.
The central idea is that there exists some peculiar force which seems to limit the power of free will. "A good sound story."--Everyman. "Made more than worth while by the author's fine capacity for character drawing."--Birmingham Gazette. Scarce.
Price: 50.00 USD

2 Whitechurch, Victor L. MURDER AT THE COLLEGE
London: The Crime Club Ltd./W. Collins Sons & Co, Ltd., [circa 1933]. First edition: red boards with black lettering to front cover and spine; second state dustwrapper. Released in the U.S. as MURDER AT EXBRIDGE. Hardcover. Very good: pale foxing to pages and page edges, previous owner's dated (1933) signature to half-title, very light shelfwear; in a pictorial dust jacket with light overall foxing, spine darkened, price ticket to spine.
Anglican clergyman Whitechurch, notable decades earlier for his THRILLING STORIES OF THE RAILWAY (a Queen's Quorum title), later in life "turned out a series of detective novels that have been widely praised."-- Bruce Murphy. Scarce Collins Crime Club.
