1 Sanford, John A MAN WITHOUT SHOES
Los Angeles, The Plantin Press, 1951. First edition: 2,000 copies were produced, but apparently only a few hundred distributed. This is #134, SIGNED by Sanford on the colophon. Hardcover. Very good plus in green clothbacked paper-over-boards with paper spine label: front inner hinge threatening to separate, nicking and abrasion to the extremities; no dust jacket.
While Sanford struggled as a writer, his wife, successful MGM screenwriter Marguerite Roberts, underwrote the publication of this novel. This copy SIGNED a second time by Sanford, dated (1953) and inscribed to the front free endsheet.

Virgil Flowers, a previously minor PREY character, takes spotlight from Lucas Davenport in this suspenseful tale. The affable member of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension displays a kind of cool and folksy charm as he tackles a murder case.

4 Sanford, John B. THE OLD MAN'S PLACE

The first novel from the author many consider to be "one of the finest little-known writers of the twentieth-century." Sanford is the author of over twenty works of primarily passionate works inspired by radical fires.
