Boston: Small, Maynard and Company, 1898. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. Tiny ''careless smutch'' to front cover, miniscule nicks to upper edge of two leaves, else a fresh fine copy, bound in brown ribbed cloth with elegant gilt lettering and decorations by the prominent architect and typographer Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue. 
Collection of lyrics by the poet laureate of Dartmouth College, who "was, indeed, both in lyric and dramatic work, a poet of rare endowment and his early death was a distinct loss to American letters."--poetryx.

Photographic frontispiece. 
Full-length portrait of Richard Hovey (1864-1900), the gifted American lyricist, poet, journalist, and one of the first American disciples and translators of Maeterlinck. Contains an excellent bibliography of Hovey's works, compiled by Edward C. Lathem.
