A Creative Short Story. Hardcover. Fine, as-new, in full navy blue cloth with blind-embossed vignette to front cover, gilt lettering to spine; in a fine, as-new, illustrated dust jacket. Book design by Rita Marshall. Jacket illustration by Etienne Delessert. 
Dr. Heidegger experiments with four of his friends by giving them water supposedly from the Fountain of Youth. In CE's superb series of stories, smartly produced, with stylish, well-designed typography, appealing jacket art.

Boston: Ticknor & Fields, 1863. First edition, second state lacking the advertisement on page 399. Hardcover. Covers lightly worn and nicked at the spine ends (with some minor restoration), corner tips worn and lightly bumped, slight indentations to the shelf edges, mild fading and occasional spotting to the cloth, else very good, internally quite clean. 
Original brown cloth decorated and ruled in the blind, spine titles gilt (tarnished), brown-coated endpapers. Issued simultaneously with the London edition. First state text with the uncorrected "myterious", line 23, on page 145. Blanck 7626.
