Hicksville, New York: The Gnome Press, Inc., (1960). B0007DXEZS First edition, first state binding. 5000 printed, but fewer than 3000 bound, about 1750 in the pale blue first state, the others in gray cloth. Hardcover. Pages tanned, endsheets faintly offset and foxed, else near fine in pale blue boards, with a patch of pale stain to lower page edges, hint of fading to spine; very good, age-darkened, lightly foxed, lightly nicked jacket; design by W.I. Van der Poel. 
"Excellent stories, all related and joining well, three from ASF, 1 from Galaxy; Schmitz was and remains the most inexplicably unappreciated major writer of the Campbell era."--Owings and Chalker. Jacket erroneously gives author's middle initial as "A".
