Philadelphia: Macrae-Smith-Company, 1938. First edition, first printing. Black cloth with titles in black across red bands. Hardcover. Mild abrasions to the pastedown endpapers, stains to the covers, slight fading to the spine, minor wear and fraying to the spine ends, else about very good; lacking the dust jacket. 
Critically well-received first mystery novel by the author who's fiction is noted for its humor and characterization. From 1950 to 1982 Offord was the mystery critic for the San Francisco Chronicle. Set in San Francisco. Scarce!

New York: Duell, Sloan and Pearce, (1944). First edition. A Bloodhound Mystery. Hardcover. Very mild browning to edges of covers, a few tiny dots of stain to page edges, else very good plus; in age-toned pictorial dust jacket that shows a few edge-tears, and numerous tiny nibbled nicks at the spine and flap folds. 
Mystery writer Todd McKinnon, Georgine Wyeth and "irrepressible eight-year-old Barby" investigate a death in a gingerbread Victorian on the Pacific Coast. The trio made their debut in SKELETON KEY. Title is from Browning's "The Laboratory."
