First printing of the second edition with a new prologue by the author. This autobiography is about settling in the Kentucky hills of Appalachia after living in the city.

Mustard-colored illustrated cloth with black spine and cover titles to a brown panel. Hardcover. Creased bump to the rear corner tip, else a near fine copy; in a rubbed and very lightly worn wraparound illustrated dust jacket. Jacket art by Samuel Bryant. Somewhat scarce in hardcover. 
Giles devoted most of her energy to writing about the West and to autobiographical works. She produced six very popular western novels, including JOHNNY OSAGE, SAVANNA, VOYAGE TO SANTA FE and SIX-HORSE HITCH, her last historical novel of the West.
