Philadelphia: John C. Winston Company, (1945). First U.S. edition. Hardcover. Previous owner's inscription to the front free end-paper in pencil, else near fine with light rubbing to the front cover, in black cloth with rifle/bayonnet device to the front cover; lacking dust jacket. 
The story of Sergeant Nelson of the British Regular Army, a "Tommy" fighting for freedom in the years 1940 and 1941. "No one since Kipling has captured the argot and character of the British Tommy with such fidelity." --Sterling North.
