Facsimile reissue of the 1919 Ward Lock original, an entry in Greenhill's terrific series of vintage mysteries. Fletcher, "at the height of his fame, was one of the most popular detective novelists on both sides of the Atlantic."--Melvyn Barnes.

New York: Hillman-Curl, Inc./A Clue Club Mystery, 1938. First U.S. edition, first printing. Hardcover. Textblock quite age-toned, thin bands of tape stains to the endpapers, mottled ageing to the endsheets, top page edges stain spotted, cloth covers show some soiling and minor stains, else very good; in a very good, trimmed and chipped dust jacket. 
Very scarce Clue Club mystery, by the English journalist and prolific author of crime fiction, originally published in the UK as MAVERY HOLD (1917). Against a bleak, desolate background, Fletcher weaves a tale of passion, horror and murder. Scarce!
