1 Fleming, Joan HE OUGHT TO BE SHOT
London: Hutchinson, (1955). First edition, first printing. Hardcover. Neat signature and date discreetly written to the front endpaper, else near fine in red boards with black spine titles and hangman device; in a near fine, illustrated dust jacket with tiny chips to the crown of the spine, a few edge tears, and mild aging.
Suspenseful tale set at Owl Hall, where legend claims that a priest was once walled up alive, and Caspar Hotter now resides and indulges in Black Magic. An attractive copy of this thriller.

Fleming provides splendid details of English village life in this mystery of a young girl who--despite the enhancement of her clairvoyant powers from a bump on the head--cannot piece together the details of one particularly puzzling death in the village.
