1 Seton-Thompson, Ernest LIVES OF THE HUNTED: Containing a True Account of the Doings of Five Quadrupeds & Three Birds, and, in Elucidation of the Same, over 200 Drawings
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, (1901). First edition, second impression. Olive cloth decorated in green, brown and gilt; brown top-edge tint. Plates and intext artwork. Hardcover. Very good plus, with bumping to corner tips, some fading to cloth, owner's gift inscription, one plate loose; no dust jacket. [361] pages. The author has SIGNED this copy, and appended an original sketch of his trademark paw print emblem.
The artist-conservationist's inspiring collection of lively and moving animal portraits--in word and picture; a follow-up to his WILD ANIMALS I HAVE KNOWN, and a fervent plea "to stop the extermination of harmless wild animals."

2 Seton-Thompson, Ernest LIVES OF THE HUNTED: Containing a True Account of the Doings of Five Quadrupeds & Three Birds, and, in Elucidation of the Same, over 200 Drawings
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, (1901). First edition, first impression. Hardcover. A near fine copy in olive cloth decorated in green, brown and gilt; the cloth shows some minor wear and darkening, a tiny bit of soiling; brown top-edge tint shows some minor scratching; no dust jacket. [361] pages.
Tales of a ram, a sparrow, a bear, a teal, a dog, a kangaroo rat, a coyote, and a chickadee. With b&w plates, and scores of intext drawings, anthropomorphic to be sure, but superbly done and completely captivating. A treasure.
