It is May, 1935 and the Royal Family is attending the launch of a new airship. Suddenly, there is an explosion. Jack Green, an actor, turns out to be the only living heir to the throne. A fantasy by the author of the play THE CORN IS GREEN.

London/Toronto: William Heinemann Ltd., (1942). First edition. Hardcover. Endsheets uniformly browned (as expected), a dot of soil to front cover, else a fine copy in vivid orange cloth lettered in black to the spine; in a rubbed and age-toned dust jacket that shows some light soiling, and minor edgewear. 
Warmly inscribed to Hugh Beaumont and SIGNED by the author. Williams starred in the original London production, which he also directed. Gregory Peck made his Broadway debut in the 1942 NY mounting, which lasted, alas, only 24 performances.
