1 Paul, Elliot FRACAS IN THE FOOTHILLS
New York: Random House, (1940). First edition, first printing. Splendid jacket art with cactus emerging from the eyehole of a skull, by ''Hawkins.'' Maps to endsheets and two pages Hardcover. Faint foxing to the page edges, tiny spot of abrasion to upper edge of rear cover, else fine, in blue cloth with devices and lettering in black; in worn and soiled dust jacket with a few edge tears and nicked, reinforced from the reverse with cello-tape.
When Paris falls, Homer Evans and Miriam return to their homeland bringing with them Dr. Hyacinthe Toudoux. In the Yellowstone valley of Montana, Miriam introduces the doc to Trout-tail III, Shot-on-Both-Sides, and Moritz, the Thinking Dog. (John Ball).
