New York: Random House, (1970). First edition; limited issue: one of 250 specially bound copies, numbered, and SIGNED by the author. Hardcover. Spine lightly faded, else a near fine copy in blue linen with gilt stamped decoration to the front cover, titles and rules stamped in gilt to the spine; in a clear acetate dust jacket, housed in a sturdy black slipcase with mild stains to the rear side. 
Praised as a "messenger to mankind" for grappling with the struggle against evil based on his own experiences as a survivor of the holocaust, Wiesel won the Nobel Peace Prize. The European Prix Medicis was awarded for this novel of the Six-Day War.
