1 (Phillpotts, Eden). Hext, Harrington NUMBER 87
New York: The Macmillan Company, 1922. First U.S. edition. Hardcover. Some very light wear and an occasional abraded spot to extremities, pages mildly age-toned--as expected, else an about near fine copy in gilt-stamped blue cloth; lacking the dust jacket.
First of four yarns issued under the Hext pseudonym, by the British author noted for his Dartmoor cycle of novels. This one has a strong sf element--a mysterious murdering creature called "The Bat"--who turns out to be a mechanical device! In Bleiler.
