Born in Vassalboro, Maine in 1865, Holman Day was a poet, a novelist, and a filmmaker, as well as a correspondent for the "Lewiston Sun" for years. He produced over 25 books. KING SPRUCE, a logging novel, was the source for the 1920 silent film.
