New York: Walker & Company, (1961). First U.S. edition. Hardcover. Very light shelf wear, else near fine; in an illustrated dust jacket that shows very mild rubbing, general light edge wear and nicking, and a slightly faded spine panel. 
30 crime stories edited and with an introduction by Michael Gilbert. Hare was the pseudonym for Alfred Alexander Gordon Clark, an English judge who died in 1958. Hare's series detective was Francis Pettigrew who debuted in the acclaimed TRAGEDY AT LAW.
