On the cover: Woolrich's first buried-alive chiller "The Living Lie Down with the Dead"--re-titled "One Night to Be Dead Sure Of" ("a strange amalgam of Poe and Damon Runyon"--Nevins) plus an Inspector Appleby, a Merlini contest yarn, Miss Withers, more!

2 Rawson, Clayton Original typed letter SIGNED by the author and addressed to Mr. William D. Grant
New York, N.Y.: [no publisher], 1952. One-page typed note on Unicorn Mystery Book Club stationery, folded thrice; SIGNED by Rawson over his typed name In the four-paragraph note, Rawson comments on Canadian custom charges for shipping books, passes along Hans Santesson's regards to Mr. Grant (asking about a film in which Santesson appears and which Mr. Grant seems to have a copy of). 
Rawson goes on to respond to Mr. Grant's apparent suggestion of SLAN as a Unicorn Book Club selection, regretfully informing him that the book falls outside the guidelines of the Club's promise to publish "new current books."
