1 Daly, Carroll John MR. STRANG
New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1936. First edition. Hardcover. Very good: spine slant, wear to shelf edges, toning to endsheets, light soiling to page edges and covers, pen doodle to front endsheet, lower front corner and a few corresponding page corners nibbled; in a fine high quality FACSIMILE dust jacket.
Oddly engrossing tale from the hardboiled pioneer of an elegant vigilante with piercing eyes the color of "steel just before it cooled"--who targets paroled criminals. "You joke. I killed Faine, of course; but the death of such a man is hardly murder."

2 Daly, Carroll John THE MYSTERY OF THE SMOKING GUN
New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1936. First U.S. edition, first printing. Hardcover. Very good only with the spine a trifle shaken, faded and slanted, wear and mild abrasion to the shelf edges, spine ends mildly frayed, corner crease to front free endpaper; lacking dust jacket.
Pulpmeister Daly, creator of the immortal Race Williams, acknowledged inventor of the hardboiled school of detection, in the book-length debut of another of his remarkable urban cowboy gumshoes, Satan Hall. Preceded by a 1935 U.K. issue from Hutchinson.
