San Diego: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Publishers, (1989). First edition. Hardcover. Very nearly fine with lower edges very lightly bumped; in color-pictorial dust jacket with with two tiny closed edge tears. With twenty-five full-color illustrations (including frontispiece) executed by Hague in pen-and-ink and watercolor. 
Sandburg was already the winner of two Pulitzers when he wrote these uniquely American, witty and poetic fairy tales for his daughters. Each story has been warmly and expressively illustrated in color (for the first time!) with its own full-page plate.
