Blue cloth lettered and ruled in black to front, in gilt to spine Hardcover. Very good plus, faded rubber-stamped identification to front free endpaper, previous owner's brief notation to half-title, covers mildly soiled and worn, spine slightly darkened; no dust jacket. 
Novelette "written in my girlhood years," first appeared in Scribner's in 1878, then in an unauthorized U.S. collection (1878-79); this and other "small waifs and strays" were issued thus so that Burnett could identify them as journeyman efforts.
