Philadelphia: Lippincott, (1949). First edition. Hardcover. Some light 'speckling' to the covers else very good plus in a lightly shelf-worn dust jacket with minor chipping to the upper spine edge and some soiling/staining to the rear panel.

2 Davis, Clyde Brion THE ANOINTED
New York/Toronto: Farrar & Rinehart Inc., (1937). First edition, first printing: limited to 1500 numbered copies SIGNED by the author. Hardcover. Very faint foxing to endsheets and to spine, else nearly fine; in tan cloth with white lettering and vignette against blue front cover and spine blocks; in a worn, price-clipped dust jacket that shows nicking at spine ends, rubbing, creases, and soiling. 
Debut novel for the Buffalo newspaperman was the basis for Victor Fleming's 1945 ADVENTURE which inspired the classic tagline, "Gable's back and Garson's got him!" Jacket and title-page art by John O'Hara Cosgrove.
