Collection of high-spirited literary parodies, including send-ups of Doyle (a case of Hemlock Jones), Hope (a tale of Rupert of Trulyruralania), Collins, Reade, Kipling ("Jungle Folk": Moo Kow and Puskat), Corelli, Dickens, Bronte, Cooper, more!

Illustrated by Kate Greenaway. Hardcover. Near fine in cream cloth stamped in blue, edges colored green; with inset paste-on color illustration by Greenaway; in near fine price-clipped dust jacket that is very light rubbed and age-toned, especially to spine. 
Greenaway's quaint, tenderly colored illustrations subtly but distinctively decorate the frontispiece, the chapter heads and tails of Harte's merry tale of young Polly and her playmates.
