Amsterdam: Gebroeders Kraay, 1878. No edition noted. Title roughly translates as ''HISTORY OF THE ART OF FIGHTING For Experts and Layman.'' Hardcover. Very good plus: wear and abrasion to extremities, rubbing to covers, interior quite nice with the exception of foxing to the inserted plates; gilt and black stamped maroon cloth over marbled boards.
Text in Dutch. Appears to be a pointed political satire of the history of war, with 16 cartoonish engravings colored in sepia and blood-red and depicting scenes of mayhem--from prehistory, the Greeks and Romans, on up to Napoleon and beyond. 105 pp.
