New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1891. Reprint. 214 pages, plus [2] pages of ads to rear. Frontispiece and three additional full-page engravings. Hardcover. Very good plus: light wear, some staining to covers, a few corner creases and scattered stains within; brown cloth with red rules, devices, gilt lettering to front; gilt lettering, rules, gilt-and-red floral vignettes to spine; blind stamping to rear. 
Fourth book in the "Home" juvenile series written by Alice Bradley Haven under the pseudonym "Cousin Alice." First published in 1853, this title is considered to be the first children's book with a California setting.
