1 Ade, George FATHER AND THE BOYS: A Comedy-Drama
New York: Samuel French Publisher, (1924). First edition: French's Standard Library; in stapled wraps. This 1923 revised version is the play's first published appearance; $.75 cover price. Discreet owner label to inside cover (which has faintly offset to the title-page), bookstore label to front cover, else nearly fine, with the printed covers showing some inevitable edgewear and nicking, as the covers are trimmed longer than the textblock.
First produced on Broadway in 1908, the popular Ade comedy's 1915 film adaptation (shot by Edward Ullmann) marked the feature film debut of Lon Chaney as "Tuck" Bartholomew, "Apostle of Manly Sport." Remade in 1931 as a vehicle for Will Rogers.
