Hamilton, Allan McLane; Willis, George, authors. Mark, Ronald; Stover, A., editors BRAINS FOR JANES New Orleans: Pirate Press, 1948. First edition, limited issue; 200 numbered copies were issued (according to the colophon); this is an unnumbered copy. Hardcover. Clothbound chapbook and a genuine oddity: a pair of short tales about brain transplants. Very good only in grey cloth with title to front board; the boards are a bit splayed and show some mild fading and splashes of dampstain. The first piece is by a doctor/phrenologist (and grandson of Alexander Hamilton), who--among other accomplishments--measured the head of Garfield's assassin, and reported on the Fortean Kentucky meat shower of 1876! Willis thus far eludes identification. Price:

Hamilton, Allan McLane; Willis, George, authors. Mark, Ronald; Stover, A., editors BRAINS FOR JANES New Orleans: Pirate Press, 1948. First edition: a chapbook. Hardcover. Hint of age-darkening and a whisper of rubbing to the extremities, else a fine copy in printed, stapled wraps. Unlike the limited clothbound issue, this edition bears the imprint ''nightrider 1'' to the front cover, along with the title. Two brain transplant stories: "Herr von Striempfell's Experiment" by Hamilton, and "Not Counting Death" by Willis. Each tale is preceded by a brief, uncredited (and, for the most part, incomprehensible) preface, presumably the work of Stover and Mark. Price:
