1939 Newbery-winner "recounts the experiences of nine-year-old farm girl Garnet Linden as she helps with harvesting, visits a fair, and gets locked in the town library."--P.D. Sieruta. Lovely example of the book; quite decent jacket, with artwork bright!

Decorated endsheets with horse portraits also by Draper. 
In 1968 Pam Farley was killed in a car crash in Europe at the age of 20. Mr. Farley memorialized his daughter's "free spirit and love of horses" in this later period Black Stallion novel. A superb example, in stunningly fresh condition.
